INTRODUCTION: Many studies have shown that bullying is the most common form of school violence (Nansen, Over peck, Pilla, Roan , Scheldt and Simon-Morton ,2001) and it may be a starting phase to a more severe forms of youth violence ( Leary , Kowalski ,Smith , Philips,2003). Bullying can be defined in terms of the power differentials (Olwens, 1993) that are between the victim and the perpetrator. According to Olwens, for bullying to set forth there should be imbalance of power as it doesn’t happen between two individual having same psychological and physical strengths. What is meant by Bullying? Bullying in Scandinavian countries is mobbing (Norway and Denmark) or mobbning , this word is used with different meanings and connotations .†¦show more content†¦HOW ARE BULLIES CREATED? Characterization of bullies as having an aggressive behavior exhibit certain behavior patterns which can be seen in the rearing patterns or some other conditions during the early childhood. Four factors contribute to the bullying behavior: I. In the Initial formative years the basic emotional attitude of the parents mainly that of primary care taker towards the child is very important. A negative attitude is characterized by lack of warmth and involves making child hostile and aggressive towards others. II. Second factor is how is the relationship between the child is with the caretaker. If caretaker is permissive and allows progressive behavior on the part of child and if he is generally tolerant without setting limits clearly of aggressive behavior towards siblings , peers and adults the child’s level of aggression is likely to increase III. A Third factor that has been seen us the child’s increase; level of aggression is the use of power assertive rearing methods. It includes physical punishment and violent emotional outburst. â€Å"Violence begets violence’s it is important to set clear limits to aggressive behaviors and impose certain rules, but physical punishment should not be used. IV.
